The Wäldele Family has grown grapevines since 1640 in the foothills of the Black Forest Region in Baden, Germany. 1640! Hannes Wäldele, born and raised in Germany’s Black Forest region, learned to farm and make wine alongside his family. He now owns and operates Wäldele Family Wines in Sonoma, California. Join us on Friday, April 5th, for An Evening with Wäldele, tasting four wines, guided by Hannes.
Generations of Wäldele relatives tilled the land of Southwest Germany with no machinery, trusting only their family oxen and hiking up hills with bins of grapes on their backs. These stories inspire the Wäldele team in Sonoma today and provide perspective on how far winemaking has evolved into modern-day practices. They handcraft wine in the Sonoma Valley and believe that staying true to the grape’s natural being is essential to making good wine. They wholeheartedly support and pride themselves on their long history of traditional winemaking and commitment to reducing their carbon footprint with organic and sustainable practices.
Hannes went to Geisenheim University to become a Winemaker and has had experience making wine in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and California.
